RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

LANGUAGE ARTS

We endeavor to impart a knowledge and understanding of religion to the children to help them in the continuing process of becoming mature Christians in attitude and action. Since this is the essence of our work together as Christian educators, and since Christianity demands a deep personal relationship with Christ, the role of prayer, our primary means of intensifying this relationship, must play an important part in the curriculum. As a Catholic institution, the privilege of prayer is ours daily.

Reading, English, Spelling, Penmanship - These basic communication skills are stressed with an understanding and appreciation of the English language and an emphasis on oral and written communication. Factors such as individual abilities, background, attitudes, needs and interests, are considered for an effective program.


MATHEMATICS

SCIENCE & SOCIAL STUDIES

The essential arithmetic skills are emphasized. The arithmetic program, as the English program, becomes semi-departmentalized in the middle grades and fully departmental in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.​​
A variety of sources is used in addition to textbooks. Science and Social Studies are semi-departmentalize in the middle grades and fully departmental in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.

FINE ARTS & FOREIGN LANGUAGE

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Participation, understanding, appreciation and creativity best describe the music and art programs.

Formal spanish classes are conducted for students in grades Pre-K thru 8.

Formal classes are conducted in grades Pre-K thru 8. If a child is physically unable to participate, a physician’s note is required.

TECHNOLOGY

SPECIAL SERVICES​​​​​​​

Formal classes are conducted for students in grades Pre-K thru 8. IPads are utilized in all grades. Students in these classes have many hands-on opportunities to use educational apps to further enhance their learning. Grades 5-8 utilize G-Suite for Education. This will enable the students and faculty to work more collaboratively on projects and also enable students to access their work in school and at home. Students learn computer skills including Keyboarding, Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher. Internet Research, G-Suite (Google Apps for Education).

Among the government funded programs offered are: compensatory education in reading and mathematics, supplemental instruction, corrective speech, English as a second language, and the services of a Child Study Team.
